September 24-29, 2012: This is the peak of the rut. Bulls are most susceptable to calling during this season. Howevever the foliage is still thick, and days can be rather warm. This is the best time for a bow hunt. But gun hunters are certainly welcome. We usually see more moose during this season than in the later seasons, but the increase is made up of sub-50 inchers. Maine Trophy Moose Guide Service operates in WMD 4 for September. Maximum bookings: two tags per week. Expect to walk three to eight miles a day. Remote lodging with all meals. Your private cabin has modern plumbing & heating.

October 8-13, 2012: Many of our best bulls have come in October. While the bulls don't move around so much in October as they do in September, we have much better visibility since much of the foliage has dropped to the ground. The weather is cooler, which is also a plus. In WMD 4 we benefit not only from our pre-season scouting, but also from knowledge we aquired while hunting that zone in September. MTM has worked WMDs 4 & 8 for many years. We scout these areas intensely according to the district designations of the two folks who are booked with us. (max booking: two tags per week) Three to eight miles a day walking can be anticipated. Please note that area 8 does not have a September season. Remote lodging with all meals. Your cabin has modern heat and plumbing. This is a gun hunt.

November 5th - 10th, 2012: Presently there are no bull tags available for the 2012 November Week (NWK) season. I honestly believe there is a chance that bull tags could be added before the June drawing. To avoid getting a cow tag for this week you must check the box on your lottery application that says you will only accept a bull tag; then go ahead and check this season. This is a gun hunt and only for hunters in very good physical shape. The bulls aren't moving, so it can take alot of walking to find them. But we always see some awesome bulls at this time. This season has only existed since 2010, and I have worked it both years. WMD 3 or 6.
